PDG+creative Builds Media Department with New HD Equipment
PDG+creative works tirelessly to keep its business performing beyond the current industry standards, and this extends to the equipment they utilize. Most recently, they have begun to expand their mixed media department with the addition of new high-definition recording equipment.
“Our new gear opens a lot of doors” said Josh Howard, PDG+creative Mixed Media Designer. “Plus, it allows us to have HD masters of all our shoots, which will be beneficial in light of the industry-wide switch-over to the HD format.”
PDG+creative’s newest piece of equipment is the Sony HVR-V1U 1080i HDV Camcorder. This broadcast-ready camera captures images at 1080p24, 1080p30, and 1080 60i, providing professional video footage that complies with the HD requirements that will soon be mandated by all over the air channels.
Recently, the camcorder was the key tool in preparing a high-profile video project for GMX Resources, an energy and petroleum company based in Oklahoma City. The camera was used for ground and aerial footage that will be combined to give an overview of the operating rigs and acreage managed by GMX. To execute the aerial footage, a “Fig Rig” and gyro were used with the camera to avoid jarring and create smooth footage.
“With the higher quality format, we can do more realistic compositing, to include green screen work,” said Howard. “All-in-all, with the much-improved technology of this equipment, we can capture the best image possible and open the creative potentional of this department exponentially.”
